Nobody likes that shock of stepping onto a cold bathroom floor or trying to shave through a cloud of mirror fog. We’ve all been there. Most heaters just try to warm up the air, which takes forever. We do things differently. We use shortwave infrared (IR) technology. Instead of fighting with the air, IR sends heat straight to the surface. The result? How it actually works
It’s all about radiation. We set these heaters to run at high temperatures, sending out waves that glide right through the air without heating it up. That’s why you feel that instant “hug” of warmth the moment you step into the zone. By tucking the IR element behind the mirror or up in the ceiling, we create a little pocket of heat exactly where you need it. No more waiting around for a radiator to finally kick in.
The guts of the system
Under the hood, we use tungsten filaments inside quartz glass tubes. We use these because they can handle the intense heat needed to get things warming up fast. To keep the hardware small and out of the way, we pack a lot of wattage into a short tube. It’s powerful. Because of that, just a heads-up: make sure your wiring and switches can handle the initial surge of power when you flip the switch. You don’t want to be standing in the dark because you tripped a breaker.
Keeping things safe
Now, this isn’t a “set it and forget it” kind of deal. Shortwave IR is aggressive. If you just leave it blasting, you could melt the mirror adhesive or ruin the silver backing on the glass. To stop that from happening, we pair the heater with a thermal cutoff or a PID controller to keep things in check. The best way to run it is in “bursts.” Hit it with a blast of high heat to clear the fog and warm you up, then let it drop down to a low-power mode to keep things cozy. This keeps the glass from expanding too much and cracking. Simple, effective, and much warmer.
